On 29th of April, the European Chamber of Commerce in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (ECCKSA), in close cooperation with the EU Delegation to Saudi Arabia, had the honour of contributing to the visit of Ms Ditte Juul-Jørgensen, Director-General of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Energy (DG ENER), to Riyadh.

Among her official meetings with Saudi authorities, Ms Juul-Jørgensen, participated in a focused roundtable co-organised by ECCKSA and the EU Delegation to Saudi Arabia. The session brought together leading European energy companies active in the Kingdom and offered valuable insights into the local energy landscape. We were delighted to welcome H.E. Christophe Farnaud, Ambassador of the European Union to Saudi Arabia, who participated alongside Ms Juul-Jørgensen, accompanied by Mr Isaac Valero, Head of Unit, International Energy Relations, and Mr Maciej Ciszewski, Head of Unit, Diversification Strategy and Joint Purchasing, both from DG ENER. Dr. Thomas Juergensen, Minister Counsellor and Head of the Trade Section, and Mohammed Zakzouk, Senior Policy Officer at the EU Delegation, as well as Dr. Rade Glomazic, Team Lead at the EU-GCC Dialogue on Economic Diversification project, also contributed to this high-quality exchange.

The occasion also served as a meaningful moment for the ECCKSA business community from the Energy sector to come together. Using the momentum from this exchange, ECCKSA member companies have already initiated the formation of the ECCKSA Energy Committee, which will act as a platform for structured dialogue and cooperation between the European private sector and Saudi partners. The day concluded with European businesses attending a high-level conference hosted in the remarkable auditorium of KAPSARC, with the presence of KAPSARC’s President Fahad Alajlan, under the theme: “Bridging Policy and Practice: EU-KSA Cooperation for a Secure Energy Future.” The event reinforced the shared commitment of the EU and Saudi Arabia to advancing a sustainable and resilient energy future.
